Magherafelt who had a good win over Clough Rangers Athletic the previous Saturday started off very well taking the lead after Michael Devlin scored on the 6^th minute. Newtowne came back to equalise on the 15^th minute with Paul Brown scoring with an overhead kick. Newtowne then went in front when Matthew Ferris finished off a good move on the 31^st minute and were still in front at half-time. The Sky Blues tried hard for the equaliser early in the second half but after Philip Logue headed in a third goal for Newtowne on the 66^th minute the visitors shut up shop at the back to collect all three points.
