Another large crowd gathered at Wakehurst for a game which would provide a thrilling conclusion to the 2011/12 league campaign. While Carniny had the luxury of knowing a point would keep their title hopes intact it was all or nothing for Saints.

 Saints started with McReynolds through the middle with Burnside and Cassley providing the width while Dowie, withdrawn in Tuesday's win over Harryville Homers, declared fit to start for Carniny with McDowell and Wilkinson in support up front.

A tentative start to the game saw most of the action take place in the central midfield area where an intriguing tussle would take place that would last the entire game. Ryan Bamber and Leslie McCaughern for Carniny would match up to Stephen Tully and Alan Telford for Saints with all four combatants in that battle enjoying spells of dominance over their opponent over the 90 minutes.

Carniny were forced into an early change when Cochrane came off with an injured shoulder to be replaced by Mark Waddell in a straight swap. The home side's best effort of the half came when Wilkinson beat Bird in the full back position and holding off centre back Laffan managed to get a shot away though Martin in the Saints goal was untroubled. 

The opener finally came in the thirty eighth minute when Carniny failed to clear the ball and Lynn played McReynolds in to score. Carniny were then forced into another change at the interval when McCullough was replaced by Frazer Young with Waddell dropping in to the right back position.  Saints made their first change soon after with Hudson who had enjoyed the better of a first half match up with McDowell making way for Aidan O'Kane.

The substitute made his way into referee Gary Crawford's notebook for a challenge on Young shortly after to be joined by Michael Maybin for a foul on Dowie. Young and McDowell were starting to tick for Carniny on the left side and were causing problems for the Saints defence with their probings, on one occasion Laffan stopping a certain goal for Young with a tremendous headed goal line clearance.

Manager Dobby Young took his final roll of the dice in the 75th minute throwing Jason Robinson into the fray. Robinson made an instant impact when in the 78th minute he rose highest at the back post to power in a header from McDowell's corner to level the score.

Now it was advantage Carniny but Saints knew it was do or die for them and they set about going for a winner. A succession of free kicks and corners were pumped towards the Carniny goal with the home side coming back under immense pressure as the clock wore down. After five minutes of added time and with the Carniny followers seeking the final whistle Gavin Burnside got on the end of a cross from McCarry to divert the ball past McCosh prompting jubilant scenes from the visiting supporters. Carniny still had time to push for another leveller but Saints were not going to throw this away as a couple of minutes later the final whistle blew and All Saints could celebrate a first ever BSML First Division title.
