Lincoln awarded 3 points despite losing 2-0

So I am sure we all have heard that Lincoln have been awarded the 3 points after City Colts beat them 2-0 a few weeks back. For anyone who doesn't know the background, City Colts brought on a player in the 88th minute while they were leading 2-0. The player was registered to play for the club, but was accidentally left off the teamsheet.

A simple admin error which has proved costly to City Colts.

I would say there is more to it than that. Do you not have to give your name to the ref when coming on and if your name isnt there surely he wouldnt let you on.
